Audio interface gain ?

Hi I’m recording my first utau and I got a scarlet audio interface but when I record my vocals should I apply gain or not I’m not sure if it will affect the quality of my utaus samples

Set your mic to a moderate level that's easy to hear, but won't cause any clipping if you sing loudly. Don't change the level during recording to ensure consistency. Even if different vowel sounds or different pitches have different volumes, that's part of the natural variation in your singing voice.
