This error occurs when the language for non unicode programs on your computer is not set to Japanese. Delete oremo first, update your computer settings and restart, then redownload oremo. There's a step by step guide on how to update your settings in the first section of this tutorial.

If you don't want to change your settings, you can try RecStar instead of OREMO, which has full unicode support. This will allow you to record voicebanks using other unicode symbols like letters with accent marks.
Recstar is available for desktop and mobile as a beta version. Be sure to report any issues to the developer, so they can be fixed right away.
