EQ is short for Equalization, it's basically filtering out certain frequencies to produce a cleaner vocal track. I use FL Studio's built-in "Fruity EQ 2:"
(You'll need to do more than just that little curve, though, I just wanted to show you what the Equalizer looks like X3).
I think Cdra wrote a tutorial on equalization, it should be floating around here somewhere. I'll take a look.

There's other programs you can use. Cdra shows how to do it in a bunch of different programs. Plus if you're just EQing, FL Studio offers a demo that lasts forever (you can't save projects and come back to them, though, you have to do it all in one go, but EQing only takes a minute or two).
