All right, time to pitch an idea I've had since an hour and a half ago:
Within every UTAUloid, there exists a special essence called a "core" which, basically speaking, is the "soul" of an UTAUloid's voice. If a core dies, the voice dies with it. Cores can get corrupted through extreme negative feelings, bad treatment from the UTAUloid's master, or if another UTAUloid manipulates it. Cores can die if they get too corrupted.
Some UTAUloids can manipulate cores, steal cores, or just be able to see them. Whether they use these powers for good or for evil is up to the UTAUloid.
Cores contain a mass amount of energy, so it wouldn't be surprising if someone wanted to use that energy for their own selfish purposes. *hint hint* Core energy can also be weaponized.
Cores can become "enlightened cores" once its owner figures out how to use it to its full potential.

Five hundred years ago, a great war between good and evil ravaged the entire world. In a last ditch effort to save the world and defeat the evil, the warriors of good (who are heavily implied to be the Vocaloids) used their core energy to wipe out the opposing army and restore the world to what it was before.
Present day:
It was a normal day for Forrest Hetane, Vio Lin, and Semi Natsuba. That is, until Semi gets kidnapped by a mysterious group of UTAUloids. Vio tries to stop them, but to no avail; Forrest doesn't do anything out of fear. Vio convinces Forrest to chase down Semi's kidnappers. Along the way, they meet new friends and get themselves sucked into an adventure they never saw coming...
