USB Microphones and Windows 8/10 bug?

I came across this video while shopping for USB mics and I'm surprised there's no mention of this bug on here. I don't want to buy a USB mic just to discover my OS makes it sound bad. The only proper fix I've found is from here, which is for Windows 8 only. It basically instructs to give the user permission to alter driver files in system32 then delete and replace the crappy Windows 8 driver with the one from Windows 7.

Does anyone have any insight on whether this bug still exists, if they experience it themselves and if the fix still works?

This seems to me only a common problem of drivers, downloading the direct drive on the manufacturer's website would solve this easily, a microphone will only sound bad only if it is bad or the cable is faulty or even the usb or p2 port of your computer is some problem, interference may also affect the microphone.

Note: this has never happened to my microphones in any OS
(Note: Windows generic drivers are not always a good choice to use (unless they work well and are not causing problems)

What microphones do you have? I think at least some mics (like the Blue Snowball) don't have their own drivers, so I assume they use the one from Windows 8/10 that apparently causes this problem?

The USB microphones I have and I use are these:

MK-F100TL - XLR/USB/P2
Am-black-01 - Usb
Samson C03u - Usb

yes it seems the generic drive that windows 8 / 8.1 / 10 installs is not good, this drive is replaced by manufacturer via Windows Update (windows 10) and the generic is removed

To say, I use a USB mic (Blue Snowball (not ice)) and it works fine on Windows 10, there's barely any background noise and I have it set 100 on setting two. The version of windows I'm using is 10 Home a reinstall with no bloatware.

Adding this for the sake of clarification.

What do you mean by this? What if I have Windows 8.1, is this just an automatic update?

Windows 8.1 is just an update to windows 8 (I honestly think it's better than windows 8 for the reason that in Win8 I suffered with performance instability for some reason).

The default driver for windows (generic driver) is not good, but it works fine when it works, it is changed when Windows Update finds a better driver (this varies by microphone), when choosing a USB microphone make sure it is compatible with your OS.

The search for drivers is better on Win10 already in its previous versions it may not find the driver.
Example: on Windows 8 Windows Update can not by any means install the "Xbox 360 Wirelles Receiver For Windows" driver and I have to install it manually already on windows 7/10 it installs without problems (I currently use Win10 Pro For Workstations).

I meant like: so if I have Windows 8 or 8.1, do I get this update/new driver too or am I still screwed about the mic? I'm a little confused by the information you're giving, because the people in that link are saying some of these USB mics don't have drivers, so they're relying on the one Windows provides which is causing this problem.

On the bright side, my mic was delivered today so I can test if I have this problem myself in the first place.

yes you also get this driver update if it finds, yes some USB microphones do not come with drivers themselves and use what the windows provides are usually cheap microphones like the MK-F100TL (I do not know if it has this problem in the USB connection since always used it connected to an XLR input).
(Note: I hope the translator is not distorting what I'm talking about)
