Hello! :3

I am an AFAB (Assigned-Female-At-Birth) transmasculine person from Sweden, born 1987. I prefer He/Him pronouns, they/them are okay too.
I did a quick search before and it seems to be a bunch of members from Sweden here :3

I found this site through Google some time ago but didn't really pay it much attention since I didn't really know what UTAU was. I am a big fan of Vocaloid since around 2014 and recently have begun watching Circus-P's live streams on youtube :3

I had heard about UTAU very breefley but it wasn't untill a few days ago that I looked into it more, realizing that Kenji-B, one of my favorurite western Vocaloid producers (nostraightanswer) and the voice provider of the vocaloid DEX, had made an UTAU named Kenji Baionoto.

I downloaded the program mostly for fun and my two voices are Kenji Baionoto and Mimi Yorune. I have seen Mimi's creator, moonst4r, here somewhere I believe :3 I have never used any program like this so it is really hard and I can't seem to get plugins to work, right now I don't have a single one o.o

Uhm, yeah, well, I guess this counts as an introduction. Feel free to send me a message and say hi! :3

Thank you!

Uh, I tried to install a romaji to hiragana plugin. I don't really know what it's for, just heard that it was good to have. I am that much of a noob :o Is it for changing UST's? Or is it for changing how you can write the sounds when you type lyrics (the aliases in the voice bank settings/voice configurations) ? Some of the sounds can be made by typing romaji (like Kenji V2's "bo", "bu", "bya") while many don't.

I also heard that pitch editor is good to have. I don't know if it's any point in getting plugins before I kind of figure out how to use the program, but on the other hand the plugins might help with figuring it out. Hm.

I've tried to download the romaji to hiragana plugin, extracted it to my plugins folder within the set up folder but it didn't show up in the program. I tried to drag the romantokana.exe-file to the program but it just says that it's not an UTAU file.

And now another thing appeared, "Unexpexted error. (Raise by generate-batch-process)" and a bunch of "???".
I mean, I don't want to give up before I even figured it out. I felt alone to, like "I don't know any other who is using this, and it's not popular here at all" so it is pretty nice to see that forums like this exist.

Thank you! Yeah, I noticed that from the few minutes of lurking before making an account :D

Romaji to hiragana plugins take notes such as "bo," "bu," and "bya" and covert them into "ぼ," "ぶ," and "びゃ" respectively. It's useful for voicebanks without hiragana aliases. I've never used the pitch editor plugin, but it's useful for tuning (which I'd recommend trying out after you've gotten used to the program, though that's just me).

If you drag it to the program, it won't work because that function is usually used to open USTs (these are the files that notes are saved as). UTAU won't recognize it if there's too many folders in between the plugin and the program itself.
Is the plugin follow this path (folder-wise)? UTAU -> plugins -> its own folder OR by itself

The unexpected error can happen for a lot of different reasons (such as "overflow" and "division by zero"). I don't think have the answer to this, but what were you doing right before it showed up?

I'm not sure if I explained that well. Please let me know if you want me to explain it more! I can try to ^^;

But if I want to write in lyrics I want to use Romaji, since I don't really understand japanese that well, I guess? So, for me, the aliases with romaji is a lot easier to use since I can just type in "byu" and get it right, but there are just some of the sounds that have romaji aliases. So the romaji to hiragana plugin doesn't change the aliases? I sat and tried to change them one by one to romaji but it doesn't seem like they got saved.
I think I have the english version of the program, does that make any difference?

Uhm, the path is: desktop > UTAU > SET UP > plugins > the files.
Before it was: desktop > UTAU > SET UP > romantokana folder > the files, but didn't make any difference.
The voices which are in the voices folder, also within the set up folder, works fine though, it just seems to be the plugins that .

Hm, I just tried to write in two syllables and make the sound, it don't use to be a problem o.o "ba" at the tone G4 and "bu" at G#4.

I have some UST's but I don't know if I can really do anything with them (like just trying to drag/click stuff) without plugins really, I have tried to change the voices but that's all.

I realize that I might sound very confused, but that's kind of what I am o.o

I guess that most people using programs like this at least have some knowing about music programs, or that isn't necessary? Is it possible to just learn this stuff by doing? I know someone who used the program Cubase without any knowledge about it and it apparently worked out, but I don't know how much patience it took or how hard it was.

helloooo welcome! :creepy:
Thank you! :3

I'm not too good at explaining things, sorry...

The plugin doesn't change the voicebank's aliases. It changes the notes in the UST itself. If the voicebank is romaji-only, the plugin won't make a different for it. The English version doesn't make a difference, either ^^b
The setup seems right, so I'm not sure why that's not working. This might be a stupid question, but are you checking to see if it shows up in Tools (T) ->Plug-Ins (N)?

I'm not sure why the raise-by-generate issue occurred. If the tempo says 50000 or something like that, change it to a different one (default is 120).

You can edit USTs without plugins. They're optional ^^ Adding, playing, clicking, and dragging notes can be done from the start, among other things. You don't need to know anything about music programs, either. Experimenting helps a lot! I knew nothing when I started and messed around with the program until things made more sense.

Edit: I found this guide and it might help you figure out how to use the program more! It's kind of long, but super useful.

I think you are pretty good at explaining, it's me who am a total noob ^^

Oh, well maybe I can try to remember some of the most common ones (and they're different for each voice bank) and then after using it for a while clicking back and forth copy+pasting maybe I'll learn some of them.

Tempo is 120, it's weird because it worked before. Maybe it's something with Kenji Vers. 2 that I haven't discovered yet. I have just clicked around for a few days since I downloaded UTAU last Friday, not even a week ago, and Kenji Vers. 2 yesterday.
At least I have "Kenji Baionoto ACT 1.7 VCV", "Mimi Yorune English Vers. 1.1 CVVC" and "Kenji Baionoto Vers. 2 CV" and a couple of UST's so I have stuff to try out at least ^^ I should just try stuff and not be afraid to screw something up :P

Oh, thank you for the link to the guide, I will check it out ^^
