CadenciiStudio: Cadencii mod

Iv'e been working on a modified version of Cadencii called CadenciiStudio. Right now there isn't much changed (Mostly UI mods), But here's a more precise list of changes (or things being changed):
  • New color scheme
  • New icons
  • Replaced the default toolbar with a better looking, more simple one (will have more options later)
  • Replacing the File edit tools etc. menu with one, easy to use menu (again incomplete see screenshot)
  • Slight tweaks to the appearance of the piano roll e.g. no more watermark
  • Changed modulation default from 100 to 10
And here's a list of things I will work on in the near future, hopefully:
  • Better settings window
  • Better dialogs
  • Auto-detect UTAU voice banks (find utau root install folder, from there detect voice banks)
  • Easier installer
Here's the screenshots:

I haven't put up a download because of license (Cadencii is GPL'd but I don't know how to word the licensing properly, if somebody could help me with that that would be great)

If you have suggestions, comments, or want to help, please let me know!

That is very slick looking.

Cadencii is one of those tools that are powerful, but is hard to take seriously.

I really like what you've done to it thus far.

The base principles of GPL are:
- you can use the software for anything and you can do (mosty) anything with it;
- you can even sell the software;
- you can modify it and distribute modified versions provided if you give the source code out.

The only caveat is that your software cannot be used by nonfree software as a resource. The LGPL permits some usage by nonfree software.

Download link (Source + Binary) https://github.com/kineticisepic/cadenciistudio

To download it, click the Download Zip button. Then extract the folder "CadenciiStudio" from the zip file.

A few notes:
  • The toolbar does not have very many functions on it. This is just because I haven't implemented more yet!
  • Ditto for the menu.
  • When you click the menu button, the traditional menubar is shown alongside the new menu. This is just to give access to all of Cadencii's features and will be removed in later versions of CadenciiStudio.
  • The controls (editor below the piano roll) are slow to respond. This is because I introduced a bug that caused the controls to stop painting entirely (they were frozen) and I am using a workaround. This should get fixed soon.
  • The download is extremely bloated for some reason. I hope to get this figured out soon!

To set it up (if you've never installed cadencii skip to step 3, otherwise start at step 1):
  1. Open run (Win+R), type in %LOCALAPPDATA% and press Enter
  2. Find the folder "Boare" and rename it "BoareBackup" or something similar
  3. In the folder you downloaded, run csinst.exe
  4. It will likely crash, but if it doesn't it should say "Installed" and after, a blank window. Close it.
  5. Now run Cadencii.exe in the Application folder.
  6. If you've made it this far, you'll be prompted to set up your Utau voicebanks. Do so then click OK.
  7. If everything went well, you should see the CadenciiStudio UI:

Now make a note and press space. You might be lucky and it will play, but it probably won't. Here's some things
you can try to do to fix it:
  • Check that your voice banks are properly configured. If they are, an icon of the voice bank should show up on the splash screen. To change voice banks, click the menu icon, click Settings..., then select the tab UTAU singers.
  • Setup your resampler (this is most likely the culprit): Click the menu icon, click Settings..., and select the Platform tab. Here, under the wavtool field, type the path of wavtool.exe (usually your root utau folder plus wavtool.exe). If you're unsure, you can browse. Now, under the resampler list box, remove all options. Then click "Add" and browse to your resampler (usually your root Utau folder plus resampler.exe).
  • Reinstall CadenciiStudio's settings. To do this, open Run (Win+R), type in %LOCALAPPDATA%, and delete the folder Boare or rename it to something else. Then run csinst.exe from your installation download.

Same happened to me, eventually I got it to stop crashing by just leaving it alone until it started to respond, but none of my utaus would sing anything anyway. He says he doesn't know why utaus won't play because I followed his steps.

He did mention importing usts/vsqx are buggy at the moment. ^^;

That's half the point of this, is to fix those show stopping errors. Cadencii itself is a bug.

Also, if csinst didn't work for you (chances are it didn't - i made it in about 15 minutes) You can copy the config manually. To do this:

1: Open Run (win+r) and type in %localappdata%, a folder should come up.
2: Delete the "Boare" folder:

3: In the CadenciiStudio download, Navigate to CadenciiStudio/Config
4: Copy that Boare folder into the folder you opened in step 1.

This will setup your configuration properly (but chances are it won't render). As I said earlier, double check
all the paths (wavtool.exe, resampler.exe, and voice bank folders) in Settings. You might get it to work, but
remember it's still Cadencii (I think that sums it all up).

And in case you're wondering it does work on my computer.

As I said earlier, Imports aren't working quite right at the moment. And the next build is still quite a ways away (i screwed up my version completely so I'll be rolling back to the last build i uploaded online and starting over a bit). The play button should be in the next build, but for now you press the spacebar to play/pause.

I'm not going to get a build made for another week or two, but I'm looking for a new program icon. If somebody could make one it'd help lots!

I'm afraid there isn't going to be another build, as I am stopping development of CadenciiStudio and moving on to my own UTAU frontend, Fluid. It is still early, but I'll post a new thread for it when it's ready (will be a long time -- think months maybe).

The UI looks like Vocaloid... i like it, but can't use it, becuse when i press csinst.exe, it doesn't run

Any chance you'll be coming back to this? It's so sad that Cadencii is so...unusable. The stuff I CAN get from it sounds so amazing, I don't want to give up hope.

Most likely not. I've moved ahead to a new project called Fluid, which is not complete yet.

Well, despite my last post, I've decided that I'll revive this project for a little while, seeing all the people that were interested in it and how many people want to use Cadencii but cant because of crappy configuration issues. Stay tuned!

I definitely want to try this Candencii Studio! It looks great and I like Candencii, but I usually use it as a converter.
