How to add "glitch" effects?

So basically I'd like to make my utau sing a cover of disappearance of Hatsune Miku, tho I have no idea on how to make the glitch sound effects in the original :o
I know it would be during mixing, but i wonder, are there any flags that would make the voice like that?
And in mixing, how would I make the effect?

(And since I have not a lot of mixing knowledge, please make the advice as detailed as possible...)

Which DAW do you use? I only use FL Studio so I can only suggest plugins if you use it.

For flags, for the default resampler (and fresamp too I think?) the W flag creates a robotic effect. For moresampler, the growl flags (MC, MD, MG) can be used to create a grainy effect.

I usually use FL Studio as well, so the plugins are good to be suggested

I suggest playing around with Love Philter, Flagus, Phaser, Blood Overdrive, Hardcore, and even the Equalizer! They all have presets build into them, so browse through them to see what you think would be suitable for the song.

For the actual "glitchy" sound of notes cutting in and out, you can do this by rendering a long note in the UST, and then cutting up the audio clip and deleting bits. It will look something like this:

And it'll sound more realistic than making many tiny notes in the UST itself. (In fact, this technique sometimes confuses me into thinking that my computer is lagging.)

Alternatively, you can play around with Gross Beat (included with FL Studio) or this Glitch plugin (old version is free, newer version is €50)

It also sounds like notes of slightly differing pitch are being layered together, though I hope the UST already accounts for that.

On top of that is some form of distortion. Perhaps a regular clipping-type of distortion, or maybe bitcrushing. Try using a low pass filter to cut out high frequencies as well.

Alright! Thanks you two!
